놀란스는 74년에 영국에서 결성된 4인조 댄스그룹으로 듀오 가수출신이었던 부모님의 영향으로 어렸을 때부터 노래를 자주 부르며 자라왔고 영국 지방클럽에서 부모님과 함께 무대에서 가족이 모두 노래를 불렀을 정도로 음악적인 재능을 타고났던 인기 댄스그룹이다.

놀란스가 79년에 발표한 두 번째 앨범 수록곡인 'I'm In the Mood for Dancing'는 당시 유행하던 디스코풍에 락적인 요소를 가미한 락 앤 댄스곡으로 경쾌한 멜로디와 다이나믹한 템포가 잘 어우러진 놀란스의 최고의 히트곡으로 놀란스를 세계적인 톱스타의 반열에 올려놓은 유명한 곡이다.

놀란스가 80년에 발표해서 크게 히트쳤던 ‘Sexy Music’ 보다 먼저 발표하여 영국, 뉴질랜드는 물론 바다 건너 일본과 한국 등에서도 선풍적인 인기를 끌며 놀란스라는 그룹명을 뚜렷하게 각인시켰던 명곡이다.

'I'm In the Mood for Dancing'는 79년에 영국 차트 3위에 오르면서 기염을 토하고 연이어 일본 오리콘 차트에 톱 1위에 오르는 쾌거를 이루면서 유럽은 물론 아시아에도 놀란스의 인기와 명성을 크게 떨쳤던 곡이다.
